The Artist

Andrew Robertson is a contemporary oil painter known for his monochromatic oil paintings and intricate graffiti pieces. Born in Calgary, Alberta, he relocated to a rural town in southwest Saskatchewan at the age of eight. As a teenager, Andrew developed a passion for photography and videography, captivated by the picturesque landscapes and undulating hills of the Saskatchewan prairies. He would spend countless hours hiking around Eastend, Saskatchewan, seeking out the hidden beauty of the terrain to capture through his lens. 
 

At the age of 17, Andrew took on the role of a Youth Care Worker, assisting teens grappling with life-controlling issues. Over his six-year tenure in this role, he witnessed firsthand the profound effects of drugs, abuse, and mental disorders on young individuals. He was deeply moved by both the uplifting stories of redemption and the heart-wrenching tales of loss. 
 

The year 2020 marked a significant turning point for Andrew. He faced the painful loss of a childhood friend, and both of his parents underwent serious health challenges. It was during this tumultuous time that he found solace in art. Picking up a pencil, Andrew began to draw, embarking on a self-taught artistic journey, constantly exploring new techniques and mediums to best express his vision.
 

In July 2022, Andrew made the bold decision to leave his job and pursue art full-time. His dedication bore fruit quickly: he has since taught in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Montana; held his first solo exhibition; and completed two large-scale murals—one in Medicine Hat, Alberta, and the other in his hometown of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. His artworks are now owned across Canada and in parts of the United States, including Boston, Massachusetts; Bozeman, Montana; and Winter Haven, Florida. One of his pieces even graced a traveling digital group exhibition in New York City. 
 

Today, Andrew paints in a quaint studio situated above a coffee shop in Shaunavon, SK, continuing to inspire and be inspired by the world around him.
